GOLIATH UPDATE
We have been getting many emails about Goliath and his trial. Well the sentencing was held June 22nd 2006. Jeffery Dean Spence was convicted of theft by unlawful taking. On that charge he was ordered to spend 9 months in the Jefferson County Jail. He began serving that sentence immediately. He was eligible for work release, but after several incidents he can no longer participate in the work release program. For the receiving stolen property conviction, Spence was placed on 7 years probation, consecutive to the sentence of theft.

Spence was ordered to pay the owners of Goliath, Rod & Diane Miller of Knox, $300,000 in restitution plus 473 straws of deer semen he had in his possession. Spence claims none of this semen was collected from Goliath. The judge estimates the value of the semen to be $231,000, conservatively. Judge Foradora compared Goliath to the Hope Diamond or the Mona Lisa. He was a one of kind.
If you recall Goliath was recovered on July 30, 2003. And passed away on December 6, 2004. The 5- day criminal trial was in October 2005. And sentencing was finally carried out in June 2006.
We have full body replica of Goliath in our Buck Barn. He sports his best set of antlers that scored 410 Boone and Crockett.
